RS232 Port Monitoring software

Serial Port Monitor is an advanced tool for RS232/422/485 COM port monitoring. Intended for professional users, it can monitor, display, log and analyze all serial port activity in the system. While being user friendly, the utility provides advanced filtering, searching and representation capabilities.

Analyze Serial Port activity

Serial Port Monitor can connect to any COM port (even to the one already opened by some application) and immediately start monitoring the port. As this tool captures data in real time, it may be very useful in troubleshooting. Serial Port Monitor lets you intercept and record all serial input/output control codes (IOCTLs) and track their settings and parameters.

The captured data can be redirected to a specific file or copied to the clipboard. Any monitoring session can be saved and loaded whenever needed.

Serial Port Monitor lets you view data in any of the four view modes: table, line, dump, or terminal. You can set monitoring filters in order to keep track of specific events only.

Using the terminal mode feature of Serial Port Monitor, you can send data to the serial port being monitored in any format you need (string, binary, octal, decimal, hexadecimal, or mixed), e.g. to make that data look as if it originates from a specific application. This approach may be handy for following the response of the device connected to the COM port to certain commands and data.
