"The main reason for choosing the Eltima's Serial to Network solution was the Pre-Sales support we received. Eltima's staff took the time to understand our requirements and suggest which products could help and how."

serial to ethernet - serial over ethernet

Share serial devices over IP Network

Serial to Ethernet Connector is a software utility that allows you to share up to 255 serial port devices over any TCP/IP network. It effectively turns the computer into a low-cost network access server, so that a device connected to the COM port becomes accessible from anywhere.

As virtual serial port technology implemented in the Serial to Ethernet Connector provides full emulation of COM ports, the operating system treats virtual serial ports just as real ones. You are no longer limited to using only a few COM ports: add more serial port connections whenever you need, without occupying hardware ports.

serial over IP

With Serial to Ethernet Connector you can:

Create an unlimited number of virtual COM ports

As the solution is software-based, you don't have to tackle cables and can leave alone hardware COM ports. All the created ports are located in Device Manager's Ports group and are easily recognized by any software and hardware you install. You can define which applications are allowed to access specific virtual COM ports.

serial over TCP/IP

Connect a serial port to remote host (Client)

Creating a Client connection initiates local (real or virtual) serial port data redirection to the remote server using the TCP/IP protocol. A Client connection does not require the presence of SEC at the remote side - you only need to specify the remote server's IP address (or network name) and the TCP port to connect to. Once the connection is established, any data sent from the remote end will be delivered for further processing to the local serial port.

COM device over network

Share a serial port using the UDP protocol

You can redirect input/output data from a local (real or virtual) serial port using UDP/IP as a transport protocol (not requiring the presence of SEC at the remote side). This approach allows you to broadcast all serial data over your local network.

Serial to Ethernet Connector lets you select the data transmission mode to be used for connection: RAW data transmission or Telnet (RFC 2217).
