virtual serial port - mobile com port software

Connect two applications over virtual serial ports

Virtual Serial Port Driver Mobile is a utility intended for mobile devices that can create up to 10 pairs of virtual serial ports connected virtually to each other. Virtual serial ports fully emulate hardware serial ports (that may not even be present in your device). Virtual Serial Port Driver Mobile fully supports ARM, MIPS, SH3/4, x86 and other CPUs.

Using Virtual Serial Ports Driver Mobile, you can easily connect one application to another via a pair of virtual serial ports in order to let them exchange data. This approach can be used, for example, with GPS simulation software.

Using VSPD Mobile, you can:

Create up to 20 virtual serial ports

Virtual Serial Port Driver Mobile creates virtual ports that are indistinguishable from real hardware ports for software programs. By creating 20 virtual ports and connecting every two of them into a pair you get 10 pairs of virtual ports; two ports in a pair are connected to each other via a virtual null modem, so that they can exchange data.

Test hardware emulators and serial port software

Virtual Serial Port Driver Mobile lets you easily test serial device emulators and software tools that work with serial ports: just create a pair of virtual ports, say COM3 - COM4; open COM3 with terminal, and open COM4 with your software tool (or vice versa). Bingo - now the two programs can exchange serial data as if they were connected with a null modem cable.

Disable existing serial ports and add new ones

The Windows Mobile platform provides you with a limited number of serial ports (COM0 - COM9). However, this may be insufficient for your purposes, especially if some of the ports are already in use. There's an easy way to solve the problem: just disable the existing serial ports and create virtual ones instead.

Full features list:

  • High-quality hardware emulation of real serial ports
  • No need to use real null-modem cable to connect serial ports
  • ActiveSync Installer/Uninstaller included

  • Virtual serial port can be created and will appear in the system immediately at runtime
  • High speed data exchange between virtual serial ports
  • Virtual ports are automatically re-created on reboot
  • No reboot required during installation
  • Create up to 20 virtual serial ports (10 pairs)
  • Support of ARM, MIPS, SH3/4, x86 and other processors
